Hello and welcome to our TILT Wiki!

There will be lots of learning and growing over the course of this year and this space will help extend our face-to-face meeting times and keep the conversation going. Sometimes an idea we talked about sparks another thought you'd like to share. Sometimes we need time to process, reflect, then share. Many times, we'll have questions. This space can serve as a continued conversation and an archive of all our work over the year.

For starters, please read this blog post by George Couros about the principles of a blended PLC model. If you have questions or comments, post them here!

Click on over to Manage Wiki and set up notifications... whenever someone posts something to the wiki, you'll get a little tap on the shoulder to take a peek!

It's ok to not know, it's ok to get a little frustrated. Keep at it, be persistent and resilient. It'll be worth it.

Thanks for being part of this group. The work we do will have a transformative effect on student learning.

Just checking in...

I'm pretty proud of the work you're doing and that I get the email heads-up that reminds me to check back in with all of you. Since our last meeting, Harold Olson has attended the Flipped Classroom workshop at CESA 2 presented by one of the authors of our book study, Jonathan Bergmann. Karly Borrud has contacted Mike Weisensel at YES about getting on the staff meeting agenda each month to share tips, tricks, ideas and more. Margi and I used Evernote during Freshmen Library and Tech Orientation and it went beautifully. Laura Kruschek and her partner in crime had students create an Animoto video of photography techniques they learned and made QR codes--their gallery is on display in the hallway. Kris Onsager has been trying everything with her students--using the Puppet Pals app during their fairy tale unit, piloting a new keyboarding program with her multi-age group, and Kindles! Mark Hemauer has agreed to have his students talk on camera about their Project Based Learning work with reorganizing the storage units for Drama Tech and Tech Ed. Elisa Welch has been using Evernote to keep portfolios for each of her students. What else have you been up to?

I've been pondering how to share all these great ideas and experiences with the whole staff. I'm wondering if Pinterest might be a good tool. Now I'll admit, I haven't gone down that rabbit hole, but there are a fair number of you who have. My thought is to set up a DASD account, maybe create boards for each school, or grade level, or subject area. I'm not sure I have my head around how the whole following/pinning process works so I'm calling on all Pinterest-invested folks to help me learn. Do you see this being an effective tool for the job? Do you have any other ideas for creating some sort of district-wide online sharing space? I think I/we could do a training/getting started session at each school or during the "unconference" portion of the January inservice... Thoughts??

Hello all!

A few of us attended the Midwest Google Summit this week and discovered lots of really exciting new things! I shared the conference resources and the Twitter hashtag in my Tuesday Tip, but want to also give you 3 exciting new updates:
  • Kim, Julie Mc, Sue, and I met with Steven Butschi from Google on Wednesday. He was very interested in hearing what we're doing, what we need, and sharing ideas and resources.
  • Google+ is coming to GoogleApps for Education!! The best part? Hangouts! A hangout is a video conference where you can share screens, record, and have live conversations about a topic. Imagine the possibilities! Experts, penpals, professional development, more!
  • For our December 12 meeting, I'm working on setting up a Hangout with Steven for both groups, I'd like to share the NextGen survey results with you and talk about Professional Development opportunities, and I'd like us to take a deeper look at Ends 3.0. More info will be coming about the agenda, it will be fun. :-)

Thanks for your continued interest and participation in this leadership group. Your enthusiasm and willingness to take risks to try new things inspires me.
